Am I qualified to teach in British schools?
To teach in a school in the UK you must have the following:
- Recognised teaching qualification from your home country
- Current police clearance from your most recent country of residence
- Eligible for an appropriate Visa allowing you to work in the UK
- 2 references from a leader in your school (eg HOD, principal, deputy)
- A well written CV
- British Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) must be obtained within 4 years of the first date that you teach in a UK state school (independent schools are not bound by this rule and can choose to hire teachers without QTS)
- Fluent in written and spoken English
