There are many markets, museums, famous artifacts and free activities in London that should not be missed. It is great to get out and about without having to spend any money, especially when you are travelling. See below some free activities in London.

Wandering through the many street markets in London is always popular on the weekends. Be sure to get to Portobello markets for stylish street clothes, funky art and old school records. Camden Markets for body piercing, tattoos and to get yourself a Mohawk and Borough Markets for farm fresh veggies, the best chocolate brownies in the world and all the cheese you could ever dream of.

Never leave London without a visit to China town near Leicester Square. It's an institution in London that we hope never disappears but the council is continually increasing rates which may one day drive a lot of the smaller Chinese businesses out of town. Try the Crispy Duck pancakes, they are delicious! While on the topic of food, don't forget to try out your haggling skills for a good curry deal in Brick Lane!

For shopping experiences, you cannot miss the opportunity to at least walk into Harrods. You may not be able to afford anything, but hey, looking is free! The Oxford vs Cambridge Boat Race

An event which attracts thousands of spectators is the Oxford vs Cambridge Boat Race which takes place down the River Thames in March. All the bars and Restaurants along the River offer specials and bands are playing through-out the day. You can just set-up camp on the grass, people watch and enjoy your surroundings. To be honest you are lucky if you actually see the boats race. There is so much happening around you, it is easy to be distracted.
