What are the job prospects like in New Zealand for Audiologists?
Audiologists are in demand in New Zealand with many District Health Boards and Audiology clinics advertising vacancies therefore the outlook is very positive for those with equivalent qualifications and appropriate experience as determined by New Zealand Audiological Society (NZAS). For audiologists from overseas this website section will give you information on how to get your qualification assessed and verified to work in NZ, how much you could expect to earn and how you can look for vacancies.

The New Zealand Audiological Society regulates and processes membership admission. There are two main classes of membership these being Provisional and Full membership.
What you need to do to get your overseas audiology qualification assessed in NZ?
This is quite an exact and at times lengthy process. The following is a brief outline of the process. Your audiology degree needs to be assessed and verified by an independent authority in NZ. We recommend using the New Zealand Qualifications Authority especially if you are contemplating NZ residency. You will need to provide original transcripts and degree documents along with proof of clinical hours obtained (supervised and unsupervised) within the degree. The NZSA Membership and Supervision committee determines equivalency of your qualification to NZ Master of Audiology degree and eligibility for Provisional membership. Once again all transcripts, and clinical hours along with your NZQA degree report will be required plus a completed application form. The more information you can provide will help the committee with the assessment. To become a Full member you will need to pass an NZAS Certificate of Clinical Competence exam. Go to the NZAS website and click on “overseas letter enquiry” to view the flowchart.
